Home

Home is the starting point for this week's Memory Verse, the newest sermon, announcements, the bulletin, and site updates.

Yellow crosses for recent items (iOS 1.32; available since October 24, 2026)

A yellow cross on the left marks an item dated within the last 7 days. It uses the item's own date, such as a bulletin or newsletter issue date, sermon date, or article publication/update date. It does not use the time the app loaded the item. Unknown, invalid, and future dates have no yellow cross.

The yellow cross helps you spot recent items; it has no favorite action. Existing display windows, latest-item fallbacks, item counts, and order stay the same. An older latest item remains visible under the existing rules even without a yellow cross.

Public iOS 1.24 shows image previews for narrated sermon summaries and other recent lists, displaying saved content first while checking for updates. Church content changes over time.

Sign in from Home

The Home sign-in entry is available in iOS 1.28 and later. Opening User Setup immediately after successful sign-in is added in 1.30 (build 282). Check Version History for availability.

Home toolbar with Log In immediately left of the Davar icon
The build 278 sign-in entry in English, dark appearance and larger text. Only the top of the unchanged screenshot is displayed to show the sign-in entry.
  1. If you are signed out or have not saved a branch selection, tap Log In immediately left of the Davar icon at the top right of Home.
  2. The password sign-in screen opens. Enter the password provided by the church and tap Log In. In 1.30 (build 282), successful sign-in opens User Setup immediately. If sign-in fails, check the displayed message, password and connection before trying again.
  3. Review your branches in the User Setup screen that opens, select and save them if needed, then tap Done to return to Home. In earlier versions, open Settings → User Setup manually. See branch settings for saving and synchronization.
  4. The Home button disappears once you are signed in and have saved your branch selection. If you are already signed in but have no branch selection, it remains visible; finish the branch step in Settings without signing in again. Signing out makes the button appear again, even when your branch selection is saved.

The Davar icon beside the button continues to open the church website.

1.28 preview: Upcoming Events and announcement images

Next-version preview: iOS 1.28 (build 278). This build is available in internal TestFlight. It was submitted to App Review on October 19, 2026 (Los Angeles time), and is awaiting review. The build 277 submission was withdrawn and replaced by build 278. Version 1.28 is not public; the current public release is 1.27. Check Version History for availability.

Upcoming Events shows future events from the official Davar Web calendar. Tap one to open its exact official event page. It is separate from Announcements. If information cannot be fetched, the previous content or a status message remains. Pulling down reloads collected content; official information is normally refreshed about every six hours.

Long announcement and order headings wrap in full. Ordinary notices open text and thumbnails in detail; tap an image to fetch and zoom the saved original. Email actions prepare the subject and full message for you to review and send. Order announcements keep opening their corresponding order rather than gaining a public Home image preview.

A notice and its images stop appearing publicly at their configured end. An offline device learns about a later end change or immediate finish on its next successful refresh. See the schedule and image instructions.

  4. When offline, the last saved content appears with an offline notice. Refresh again after reconnecting.

What appears on Home

Social updates

iOS 1.20 build 248 and later display the complete eligible set returned by the server.

Scroll down Home to find Social updates before Store updates. In iOS 1.22 and later, each YouTube item also shows a thumbnail. Check the title, source channel, and publication date, then tap the item to open that exact video.

YouTube updates come from the public Davar Kingdom of God and Jun Asai channels. For each source, Home always keeps its newest item and also shows every available post published in the previous 31 days, ordered newest first. The server checks about every six hours. Pulling down Home reloads the information already collected by the server. Post titles remain in their original language.

If a source cannot be refreshed, its previously validated items remain visible under the same publication rule, with a notice. An empty state appears if no items have been collected yet. Instagram is awaiting its official API connection and does not appear until that is complete. Open Facebook and X from Links.

The first collected videos appear on Home without sending a batch of Push notifications for older uploads.

Latest-list thumbnails (iOS 1.23 and later)

Scroll through Home's latest lists. Where an image is available, a small preview appears beside the title. Tap the row to open the original article, card, or video as before.

If an image is missing or cannot load, the previous icon is shown. Public 1.24 uses a smaller server-generated list image, fills the preview's width, and aligns its top edge. The original article/card image is unchanged. Saved content remains available if an update fails; pull down Home to reload.

In iOS 1.24 and later, the server-generated list image fills the preview width and aligns to the top, so the lower part may be cropped in Home. Open the item to view its original image.

Read the bulletin

  1. Tap View Bulletin.
  2. On iPhone, use the page-by-page reading order instead of a small two-page spread.
  3. Where text view is available, select text to copy it or use the device's Translate action.
  4. The Share button shares the original PDF.

The current viewer switches between PDF and Text and can read or translate supported text.

Responsive Youth newsletter (iOS 1.26 and later)

From Home, open the latest Youth newsletter to read the original HTML article. It adjusts to iPhone and iPad size and orientation, with the article photos in place. Tap Translate to read it in Japanese or English where your iOS version supports article translation; Show Original restores the source text. Use the speaker button to hear the displayed text, and Share to send the original article link. In iOS 1.27, a centered progress message remains visible while translation runs and closes when the translated article appears, fails, or is canceled.

Translation and read-aloud

A Translate button translates that card's title and body on the device. A speaker button reads supported text aloud, with play, pause, speed, and 15-second movement controls. Network translation needs a connection; saved text and device speech may remain available offline.

About update alerts: “Bulletin updated” means the bulletin file itself changed. The 8:00 AM app and site digest can summarize newly published app features, the bulletin, Sermon Summary Reading, photos, videos, Verse Cards, Store products, and other site updates once per day. Push shows categories and counts only. Open the notification for the exact version notes, bulletin PDF, narration video, each tagged Verse Card post, and Store product page.

Home updates and saved content in 1.33

Public version 1.33 (288) uses a thicker yellow cross for items with a known date within seven days. Unknown dates have no cross. See the1.34 improvements below for original publication dates on memory-verse cards. Existing display windows and the latest-item retention rule remain.

Supported categories starting with newsletters are ordered by their newest post. Long announcement previews combine line breaks and show up to three lines followed by an ellipsis; tap to read the full text.

Previously fetched notices, text and images are shown from device storage while updates are checked when connected. Content not yet fetched is unavailable offline. Viewed or saved videos are retained; unviewed videos are not all downloaded automatically.

Home improvements in1.34 (waiting for review)

Memory-verse cards use their original publication date for recent-item indicators. Long events show up to three lines with line breaks collapsed, and selecting one opens its URL. Cached lightweight thumbnails reduce transfers. Existing display windows, counts, ordering and latest-item fallback rules are retained.
